William J. "Bill" Barton

William J. "Bill" Barton, 61 of Pottsville, died peacefully Friday morning at home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on July 26, 1963, in Pottsville, a son of the Dolores Mayernick Barton, Pottsville and the late Francis H. Barton.

He was a 1981 graduate of Pottsville Area High School.

Bill proudly served his country in the Army, a commitment that reflected his strong sense of duty and pride

Bill was employed by Delval Equipment, where he loved his job and showcased an unwavering dedication to his work.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Pottsville and the Mechanicsville Game and Fish.

He embodied a vibrant spirit, characterized by his great sense of humor and his knack for entertaining his family with amusing voices; his beloved stuffed monkey, "Clyde," was a beloved companion in these jovial antics.

He especially cherished attending his children’s and grandchildren’s events, never missing an opportunity to support those he loved. Beyond his devotion to family, Bill found peace and enjoyment in fishing and crabbing, often seeking the quiet comfort these pastimes brought him. His beloved dogs were constant companions throughout his life, bringing him immeasurable joy.’

In addition to his mother, Bill is survived by his wife of 40 years, Christina Johnson Barton; daughter, Samantha Raudenbush, and her husband, Matthew. Pottsville; his son, Shawn Barton, and his wife, Katie, Friedensburg; daughter, Cassidy Barton, Pottsville; his grandchildren, Kloee, Brogan and Cam; a brother, Robert Barton, and his wife, Robin, Pottsville; a sister, Linda Maley widow of Michael, Pottsville; his dog Hazel; several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends of the family are respectfully invited to attend the funeral services at 11AM, Wednesday, July 2nd from the James E. Humphrey Funeral Home, Pottsville. Relatives and friends are invited to a viewing Tuesday evening July 1st from 6-8PM and Wednesday morning from 10AM until the time of services. Interment with military honors will follow at Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill Haven.
