Lorraine J. Macunas

Lorraine J. Macunas, 97 of Pottsville died peacefully May 12th at Schuylkill Center, Pottsville.

She was born August 6, 1927, in Minersville, a daughter of the late James A. and Anne Muldowney Jefferson.

She was a 1945 graduate of Minersville High School. 

Prior to retiring Lorraine worked for Paul Seibert and United Metal.

Lorraine was a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, Pottsville; the former Pottsville Club and it's Ladies Auxiliary. She was also instrumental for starting recreational softball in the area.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles G. Macunas, 2003; 2 brothers, Lamar and James Jefferson.

Surviving are her children, Barbara Sepavich and her husband John, York; Charles J. Macunas and his wife Mary, Higganum, CT; Lynn Morgan and her fiancé Eric Tymchyshyn, Orwigsburg; 6 grandchildren Jeff and Greg Morgan, Jason Macunas, Stacey Bass, Michael & Matt Macunas; 6 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the convenience of the family at St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, Pottsville. Interment will also be at the convenience of the family in St. Kieran's No. 2 Cemetery, Llewellyn. The family would prefer remembrances in the form of contributions in memory of Lorraine be made to St. Patrick Memorial Fund, 319 Mahantongo St. Pottsville, PA 17901 or Hillside SPCA, POX 233 Pottsville, PA 17901. Arrangements are under the care of James E. Humphrey Funeral Home, Pottsville.
