Glenn C. Roberts, 73 of Port Carbon, died peacefully at Monday, June 29 at home, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on March 15, 1953, in Jamaica, Queens, NY, a son of the late Nataniel J., and Forlendia O. Williamson Roberts.

Glenn’s life was characterized by deep dedication to his loved ones, remarkable talents, and a vibrant spirit that touched all who knew him. A proud graduate of Andrew Jackson High School in Queens Village, NY, Glenn further pursued his love for music by studying jazz at Jazz Mobile in New York. He also took up radio announcing in New York, beginning a lifelong commitment both to the arts and to communicating with the world.

Glenn’s career reflected the breadth of his gifts and passions. He was well known as a radio announcer in New York, where his voice and enthusiasm left an indelible mark. His dedication to jazz led him to teach at Kings Academy and the Robert Braun School of Music, nurturing a new generation of musicians. Glenn also established his own studios in Pottsville and St. Clair, further sharing his expertise and love for music with the community. Later in his life, he worked as a driver for STS, demonstrating his enduring commitment to service and connection.

A devoted member of the AA community, Glenn recently celebrated 53 years of sobriety on March 9.

Music was at the heart of Glenn’s soul. He played the drums in numerous bands and was equally at home with the bass, piano, and guitar. His passion for jazz was reflected in a collection of records and an ever-present appreciation for the artform. Those who played alongside him or learned from him carried forward not just skills, but also his infectious enthusiasm.

Anyone who had the pleasure of spending time with Glenn remembers his friendly nature and capacity for conversation. Glenn was more than just a talented musician and communicator; he was a family man, loved dearly by those who knew him best. His greatest pride came from the relationships he built and cherished every day.

Glenn’s legacy endures through his devoted wife of 25 years, Cherie Cresswell Roberts; Alexandra Fedeles Trexler and her husband, Devin; Nathaniel J Roberts, II and his wife Tonishia; Glenn A. Glenn’s life lives on in the memories of family—both immediate and extended—and in all those whose hearts he lifted with music, conversation, and kindness. Though he is gone from our sight, his spirit endures in every story recounted, every song played, and in the continued lives of those he cherished.
