Elizabeth C. "Betty" Koury, 96 of Pottsville, died Monday morning at Luther Ridge Assisted Living, Pottsville.
She was born October 27, 1923 in Llewellyn, a daughter of the late Frank and Anna Tlumacz Bosack.
She was a graduate of Branch Township High School.
She worked alongside her husband at the former Koury Wholesale, Pottsville.
Betty was a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, Pottsville.
On August 25, 1945, Betty married her buddy and the love of her life, George Koury. They spent the next 70 years raising a family, building a business, and counting their blessings.
Betty lived each day with a genuine desire to praise God and a fierce devotion to her family and friends. Walking around town, hand in hand with her George, was one of her greatest joys. And, that joy was contagious.
She was preceded in death by her husband George A. Koury on Sept 21, 2015; 2 sisters, Margaret Clifford and Irene Koury; a brother, Frank Bosack.
Surviving are 2 sons, George D. Koury, and his wife Susan, Mansfield and Robert and his wife Brigid, Pottsville: 4 granddaughters, Rebecca Woods and her husband Shane; Katherine Koury and her husband Christopher Reed; Rachel McMurtrie and her husband Bruce; Elizabeth Koury Bajc and her husband Eric 5 great-grandchildren, Easton, Kurt, Evie, Miles and Anderson; a sister, Elsie Davis, West West Terrace. Nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Saturday at 11AM from St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, Pottsville. Family and friends are invited to a viewing from 10AM until the time of Mass at the church. Interment will follow in St. Patrick No.3 Cemetery, Pottsville. Arrangements are under the care of James B. Humphrey, F.D. James E. Humphrey Funeral Home, Pottsville. Anyone attending is asked to please wear a mask.
