Carolyn M. Falls

May 29, 1931 — July 17, 2020

God peacefully called Carolyn M. “Lynn” Mager Ward Falls home to heaven to rejoin her parents and son on July 17, 2020.

Carolyn was born on May 29, 1931, the only child of Francis and Carolyn (Nagle) Mager. She lived her entire life in Pottsville and was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

Carolyn was a proud graduate of Pottsville High School where she was the spirited captain of the cheerleading squad and a devoted member of Coed Hi-Y and Allied Youth. A talented vocalist in both the A Cappella singing group and the choir, Carolyn sang by invitation at Carnegie Hall in New York City. Voted the “most athletic girl” of her senior class, Carolyn enjoyed playing softball as one of the notorious Bloomer Girls upon graduation.

Prior to retiring, Carolyn worked at D.H.H Lengel Middle School as a lunch aide for 20 years. In her earlier days, Carolyn loved traveling in her 1956 Pontiac with her young children to Atlantic City on summer vacations. She later ventured with her husband Ralph on special occasions to Cape Cod, Niagara Falls, and other destinations. Carolyn also loved to gather with her family at her cabin along the Marlin Dam. Carolyn enjoyed bringing beauty and style to her surroundings and others through her penchant for home remodeling, decorating, painting, sewing, and crafting. Her garden was her pride and joy, and Carolyn spent many sunny days in her straw hat cultivating beautiful plants and flowers.

In addition to her parents, Carolyn was preceded in death by son Dann Ward, daughter-in-law Marilyn Sue Ward, and great-grandson, Luke Sechevich.

Carolyn will be missed dearly by her family and friends. She is survived by her husband, Ralph Falls Sr., with whom she would have celebrated 50 years of marriage this October. In addition, Carolyn is survived by her beloved children, sons Dale (Kathie), Dennis (Laurie), Darrell (Laurie), and daughter Dana (Robert); stepchildren Dale (Sandra), Ralph Jr. (Joann), Elva (John), Yvonne, and Debra (Patrick). Carolyn was a doting “Nana” to her 13 grandchildren, 5 step-grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and 5 step-great-grandchildren. Carolyn also leaves behind several cousins.

Carolyn will be remembered for her zest for life, her selfless spirit, and her optimistic guidance. She was always there with unwavering support for her family and for everyone who needed her. Above all, Carolyn was full of love, and her love was unconditional.

Graveside Services will be held Wednesday at 11AM from Odd Fellows Cemetery, Pottsville, with Rev. Chris Rottharpt officiating. Family and friends are invited to a visitation from 9:30-10:30AM at James E. Humphrey Funeral Home, Pottsville. The family would prefer remembrances in the form of contributions made to the Trinity Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, 300 West Arch Street, Pottsville, PA, 17901.
