Albert Francis Schneider, 95 of Pottsville, died peacefully Friday morning at Providence Place, Pottsville.
He was born June 1, 1931 in Pottsville a son of the late Charles F. and Sadie Spangenberg Schneider.
He was a 1949 graduate of Pottsville High School and a member of the 1948-1949 State Championship gymnastics team.
He entered the U.S. Air Force Jun 15, 1949 and graduate from radio repairmen's technical training school. He rose to the rank of Sergeant during the Korean War and was honorably discharged December 4, 1952.
Al worked for the Pottsville Parking Authority for 33 years, retiring as a supervisor of maintenance and operations. Prior to the parking authority, he worked for Ost & Ost, Inc., Moyer Electronics, and as an independent radio, TV, and automatic parking device repairman.
Al was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Pottsville, a life member of the former Humane Fire Co. now Pottsville Fire Co. #1, a member of the Walter Griffiths AMVET Post #180, TPA, American Legion, Phillip & Jones Rod and Reel, Bear Creek Fishing Club.
He was preceded in death by his wife Virginia Griffiths Schneider on Dec 1, 2008; 3 brothers, Charles, William, and John Schneider; a sister, Dorothy Gardner.
Surviving are 3 children, Albert D. Schneider and his wife Brenda, Paxinos; Susan E. Morgan, and her husband David, Schuylkill Haven; Mark D. Schneider and his wife Tracy, New Ringgold; grandchildren, Michelle Sanders; Brad Schneider and his wife Trish; Albert D. Schneider, Jr and his wife Maureen; Ryan Morgan and his wife Elizabeth; Brianne Barket and her husband Zach; great-grandchildren, Makayla, Mia, Sadie, Albert III, Alice, Evie, Lainey, Hayden, Autumn and Theodore; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 11AM from Trinity Lutheran Church, Pottsville, with Rev. Chris Rothharpt officiating. Family and friends are invited to a viewing from 9AM until the time of service. Interment with military honors will be held at the convenience of the family at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. The family would prefer remembrances in the form of contributions in memory of Al be made to Pottsville Fire Co. #1, 200 Humane Ave, Pottsville, PA 17901.
Arrangements are under the care of James E. Humphrey Funeral Home, James B. Humphrey, F.D., Pottsville.
