Marie I. Davis

Marie I. Davis, 84, of Pottsville, died Monday at home. She was born April 21, 1925 in Pottsville daughter of the late Abdullah and Mahaussin (Lucy) Monsuer Koury. She was a 1942 graduate of Pottsville Catholic High School and also graduated from Empire Beauty School. She owned and operated Marie' Beauty Shop in Pottsville for 45 years prior to retiring in 2005. She was a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, Pottsville and the seniors group of the church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ellsworth C. Davis, Sr. on November 24, 1993: a son, Daniel R. Davis on February 4, 2008: 4 brothers, Maron, John, Anthony, and Daniel Koury. Surviving are 2 daughters, Cindy D. Ferhat and her husband, Joseph, Pottsville: Maria V. Davis, Lake Park, Florida: 2 sons, David E. Davis and Ellsworth C. Davis, Jr. and his wife, Donna, both of Pottsville: 1 brother, George Koury, Pottsville: 2 sisters, Catherine Purcell, Pottsville and Veronica Edelstein, Tom' River, NJ: 6 grandchildren 7 great grandchildren: nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. Thursday from St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, Pottsville. Family and friends may call at the church from 9:30 A.M. till the time of Mass. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery, Pottsville. James E. Humphrey Funeral Home, Pottsville, is in charge of arrangements.
