Gertrude S. Bruen

Gertrude S. Bruen, 94, of Pottsville died Sunday at home. She was born June 21, 1915 in Pottsville daughter of the late George and Gertrude Fertig Steidle and was a 1933 graduate of Pottsville High School. She was the restaurant manager for 23 years at the former H.L. Green, Pottsville and was most recently employed by I. U. # 29 for 10 years prior to retiring in 1997. She was a member of the former 1st United Church of Christ, Pottsville and Schuylkill Citizens Band Radio Club. She was preceded in death by her husband Samuel, 1980: a son, Raymond Bruen, Sr.: a sister, Ruth Tuckett: 2 brothers, Carl and Milton Steidle, Sr. Surviving are a granddaughter, Shannon S. Bruen and her companion, John Richter; a grandson, Raymond Bruen, Jr. and his companion, Brooke Moyer: 4 great grandchildren, Kyle, Emily, and Olivia Bruen and Chloe Moyer: nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday at 2:00 P.M. from the James E. Humphrey Funeral Home, Pottsville with Rev. Robert Stahl officiating. The family is requesting that those who attend utilize the color pink with or on your attire. Interment will be at Charles Baber Cemetery.
