Eugene J. Salem, Sr.

Eugene J. Salem, Sr. 82, of St. Clair died Wednesday morning at home. He was born May 20, 1929 in St. Clair son of the late Helen Salem. He was a graduate of St. Clair High School and attended Penn State University. He was employed by the former Pottsville Bleach & Dye Co. for 33 years prior to retiring. He was a veteran of the Navy having served aboard the U.S.S. Joseph P. Kennedy, Jr., DD-850. He was a member of the former St. Casimir Roman Catholic Church, St. Clair. Surviving are his wife of 61 years the former Maryann Bagucansky: 8 children, Eugene J. Salem Jr., St. Clair; Mary Jane Hesse, St. Clair; Joseph J. Salem, St. Clair; John Salem, FL; Lisa Salem, Orwigsburg; Joan Marie Salem, St. Clair; Frank Salem, St. Clair, and James Salem, St. Clair: 12 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Services and interment will be held at the convenience of the family. The family would prefer donations in form of contributions made to American Cancer Society, 16 North 4th St., Minersville, PA 17954. James E. Humphrey Funeral Home, Pottsville, is in charge of arrangements.
