Clista Witmer Hudock

Clista Witmer Hudock, 65, of Pottsville died Monday morning at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, Philadelphia. She was born March 31, 1949 in Pottsville, daughter of Irene Reedy Witmer, Pottsville, and the late Wayne Witmer. She was a graduate of Pottsville Area High School, Penn State University where she received her bachelors and masters degrees in elementary education, and Bloomsburg University where she received her masters degree in reading. She was employed by the Pottsville Area School District for 36 years where she taught 3rd grade at the former Palo Alto School, 2nd grade at the former Jackson St. School, where she was also head teacher, and was a reading teacher at John S. Clarke Elementary Center, Pottsville prior to retiring in 2007. Clista was member of United Presbyterian Church, Pottsville, where she served as a Deacon, and was also member of PSEA. Family was everything to Clista, she lived for her whole family. She is preceded in death by a brother, David Witmer. Surviving in addition to her mother are her husband, John M. Hudock to whom she was married to for 42 years; 2 daughters Jennifer Burgess and her husband Jason, Minersville; and Johanna Latimer, and her husband Bryan, Pottstown. 5 grandchildren, Jacob, Julia, John, Jackson, and Jace; her mother-in-law Anna Hudock, Pottsville. Service of remembrance will be held Wednesday April 23rd at 7:00 P.M. at United Presbyterian Church, Pottsville, with the Rev. Jeff Colarossi officiating. Family and friends are invited to call 5:00 P.M. until time of service at the church. Interment will be private at Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill Haven. The family would prefer remembrances in the form of contributions made to United Presbyterian Church, 214 Mahantongo St. Pottsville, PA 17901. James E. Humphrey Funeral Home, Pottsville, is in charge of arrangements.
