George V. "Skinny" Soellner

George V. "Skinny" Soellner, 85 of Pottsville died Friday at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown. He was born January 1, 1930 in Pottsville son of the late George and Thelma Vaughn Soellner. He was a graduate of Pottsville High School and worked for the former Aetna Steel Co. and Setco Steel Co. prior to retiring in 1992. He was a Navy veteran having served during the Korean War. Skinny was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Pottsville, American Hose Co. Pottsville, and the Walter Griffiths Amvets Post 180, Pottsville. Skinny was also a former member of the Pottsville Joint Veterans Honor Guard and was volunteer for the Meals On Wheels program delivering food to the "old people". He was preceded in death by his wife the former Phyllis L. Mohl on May 23, 2007; 3 sisters, Ione Soellner, Ilona Soellner, and Gloria Bettinger; a brother Wayne Soellner; and a granddaughter, Brittany Wrigley. Surviving are 3 daughters, Delsa Wrigley and her husband Mark, Kirkwood; Darlene Kolar, and her husband Tom, Seattle WA; Denise Mullin and her husband Doug, Pottsville; a son George Soellner and his wife Gloria, Pottsville: a brother, Marvin Soellner, Modesto CA: 9 grandchildren, Arienne and Nathaniel Wrigley, Jonah, Julie, Blanca and Jackson Kolar, Kelsie Soellner, Alexandra and Jillian Mullin; nieces and nephews. Services will be held Saturday at 10:30 A.M. from Trinity Lutheran Church, Pottsville with the Rev. Harold L. Hand, Jr. and Vicar Chris Rothharpt officiating. Family and friends are invited to call at the church from 6:00P.M.-8:00P.M. Friday evening and Saturday from 9:30 A.M. until the time of services. The family would prefer remembrances in the form of contributions be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, 300 W. Arch St. Pottsville PA, 17901 or to the American Cancer Society 101 W. Frack St. Frackville PA, 17931. Interment with military honors will be at Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill Haven. James E. Humphrey Funeral Home, Pottsville is in charge of arrangements.
