James F. Davis

James F. Davis, 87 of Orwigsburg, died Thursday at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown. He was born September 14, 1928 in St. Clair son of the late Frank and Florence Davis. He was a 1945 graduate of St. Clair High School and a 1947 graduate of Valley Forge Junior College where he was first alternate to attend West Point Military Academy. He also attended Penn State University. Jim was the former owner of the Davis Office Building and Davis Trucking. He was an Army veteran having served during the Korean War. Jim was a member of St. Clare of Assisi Roman Catholic Church, St. Clair and the former Pottsville Club. He was preceded in death by a sister, Lucille and a brother, Edward. Surviving are his wife the former Faye E. McGinley with whom he celebrated 61 years of marriage with on August 2. 2 sons, Lt. Col. David Davis (ret) and his wife Debra, Springfield, VA; Kevin Davis and his wife Dianne, Huston, TX: a daughter, Sheri Johnson and her husband Mark, San Diego, CA: 6 grandchildren, Sarah and Michael Davis, Spencer and Clayton Davis, Ali and Ashley Johnson: Nieces and Nephews. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10:30 A.M. from St. Clare of Assisi Roman Catholic Church, St. Clair, with Monsignor William F. Glosser as celebrant. Family and friends are invited to call from 6:00 P.M.-9:00 P.M. Tuesday evening from James E. Humphrey Funeral Home, Pottsville. There will be no calling hours Wednesday morning. The family would prefer remembrances in the form of contributions made to St. Clare of Assisi Memorial Fund 250 East Hancock Street St. Clair, PA 17970. Interment with military honors will be private at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
