Josephine L. Messina

  Josephine L. Messina, 101 of Pottsville, died Sunday at Providence Place Retirement Community, Pottsville.   She was born June 30, 1916 in New York City, NY daughter of the late Angelo and Mary Gerace Megna.   She was employed by the former Phillips & Jones Company for 35 years and was a self employed Beautician.   Josephine was a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church and the former St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, both of Pottsville.   She was preceded in death by her husband Salvatore Messina; a son, Jack Messina, a sister, May Hickey; 2 brothers, Gerald and Andrew Megna: Surviving are 3 grandchildren, 1 great-grandson, nieces and nephews.   Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 11AM from St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, Pottsville. Family and friends are invited to a viewing from 9:30AM-10:30AM at James E. Humphrey Funeral Home, Pottsville. The family would prefer remembrances in the form of contributions made to St. Patrick Memorial Fund, 319 Mahantongo St. Pottsville PA, 17901.
